Niteesh K. Choudhry, MD, PhD, associate physician at BWH, received the 2012 Award for Excellence in Methodology by the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). This award recognizes Choudhry’s research, the Post-Myocardial Infarction Free Rx Event and Economic Evaluation (MI FREEE) Trial. This trial evaluated the impact that cost-sharing has on medication adherence, medical costs and health outcomes for a targeted condition. This award honors outstanding research designed to advance the field of outcomes research while having a substantial impact on the field with anticipated acceptance and application by others.
Chourdhry’s research, MI FREEE, also was awarded second prize in the National Institute of Health Care Management Annual Research Awards in recognition of his outstanding work from researchers furthering innovation in health care financing, delivery and organization or the implementation of health care policy.
MI FREEE was also named one of the top five noteworthy publications of the year by AcademyHealth.
